When the film was watched by nearly 2,000 viewers, Makbul Mubarak was so amazed that he forgot the answer he had prepared.

Sour salt penetrated cinema until it crossed Europe, bringing Makbul Mubarak to share experiences in discussing Italian Film Festival 2024: Venice in Jakarta. He recalled winning the Fipresci Prize for the best work in the Orizzonti category at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival.

The director started working on the film Autobiography by looking for partnerships, in 2017. Makbul was then joined by Torino Film Lab who invited him to Italy. Apparently, the show premiered at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival.

"When I was looking for a distributor, I came back again. "So, I went back and forth bringing the film to Italy," said Makbul, laughing in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/4/2024). He was even more happy because Autobiography was screened in Italy just before last Eid.

Director of the Italian Film Festival Maria Battaglia delivered an explanation in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/4/2024).

"It is still being screened in major cities such as Venice, Rome, Naples, and Milan. I am also currently working on another project with Torino Film Lab," he said. The preparation took seven months. Makbul moved around cities to continue to listen to input from film practitioners.

All creations that enter the Venice International Film Festival are screened without distinction between directors, from seasoned figures to newcomers. Makbul was amazed when Autobiography was watched by almost 2,000 viewers. Relatives working on the film even practiced answering questions.

"As time progressed, the audience couldn't see the end. Far away. "Forget everything you have memorized in English," he said with a chuckle. Invitees arrived by boat, including global actors and actresses who crossed the red carpet.
