JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The General Election Commission will appoint the pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates resulting from 2024 Presidential Election. The determination will be carried out in an open plenary meeting forum with the participation of all presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Member of the General Election Commission (KPU), Idham Holik, said that the determination of the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates (capres-cawapres) is scheduled for Wednesday (24/4/2024) at 10.00 at the KPU office, Jakarta. The determination is made according to the time limit stipulated in KPU Regulation Number 6 of 2024 concerning the Determination of Elected Candidate Pairs, namely no later than three days after the decision is read by the Constitutional Court, Monday (22/4/2024).

"The schedule for determining the selected candidates will be in accordance with the deadline set by the electoral commission regulation," said Idham Holik at the KPU office in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

In the presidential and vice presidential election dispute verdict hearing on Monday (4/22/2024), the Constitutional Court rejected the request from Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar Mahfud. The Court deemed that all the arguments presented by the pairing of presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 1 and 3 were not proven during the trial.

However, three of the eight constitutional judges had a different opinion or dissenting opinion regarding the Constitutional Court's decision. The three constitutional judges are Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat.

The Constitutional Judge entered the courtroom for the reading of the verdict on the Presidential Election Dispute Result (PHPU) in 2024 at the Constitutional Court in Jakarta on Monday (22/4/2024).

Furthermore, Idham said the open plenary session also invited all presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs, political parties or coalitions supporting the candidate pairs, the campaign teams of the candidate pairs, as well as the Election Supervisory Board. The General Election Commission also invited President Joko Widodo, the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, and other leaders of state institutions.

"The agenda for tomorrow's meeting is only the announcement of the elected presidential and vice-presidential candidates. There will be no speech from the elected president and vice president," said Idham.

KPU member, August Mellaz, stated that the KPU has sent invitation letters to all parties, including the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs. However, he has not been able to confirm which parties will attend the plenary meeting.

"We hope that supporters of the presidential and vice presidential candidates who come to the KPU will maintain order," he said.

Tomorrow's meeting agenda is only for the appointment of the elected president and vice president candidates. There will be no speeches from the elected president and vice president.

The police and security units held a gathering before the reading of the verdict on the dispute over the results of the 2024 Presidential election at the Constitutional Court in Jakarta on Monday (22/4/2024).

Previously, KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said that the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the presidential election dispute had the consequence that KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning Determining the Results of the 2024 Election was declared correct and remained valid nationally. . The KPU immediately continued the presidential election stages by determining the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Separately, the General Secretary of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu'ti, stated that Muhammadiyah calls on all groups of society to be loyal to Prabowo-Gibran. Although they were on different sides during the presidential election, the entire society must reunite to support and oversee the new government that will be formed after the inauguration on October 20th, 2024.

"Loyalty is not fanaticism, but critical loyalty as a form of participation in national and state life," said Mu'ti.
