Prabowo's coalition has prepared ministerial quotas for PKB and Nasdem

Political parties supporting Prabowo-Gibran are not worried about their ministerial quota being reduced after new political parties join.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Advanced Indonesia Coalition or KIM, the coalition supporting the elected presidential-vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, has prepared ministerial seats for political parties joining after the 2024 Presidential Election ended, including the Nasdem Party and the National Awakening Party. The allocation of ministers for the newly joined parties will not affect the ministerial allocations for the supporting parties of Prabowo-Gibran, so no concerns will arise from within the KIM.

Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Expert Council, Dradjad Wibowo, when contacted, Friday (26/4/2024), revealed that Prabowo had discussed his future cabinet with political parties (parpol) members of KIM. The political parties in question are the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, PAN and Democratic Party. Even though the discussions are still in the early stages, the political parties have already obtained a general idea regarding the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet, including the estimated allocation of ministerial seats for each political party in KIM.

With that picture in mind, political parties in the KIM, including PAN, are said to not be worried if there are new parties that join the ranks of Prabowo-Gibran's supporters. "There is absolutely no worry. Because we have already received a picture from Mr. Prabowo. So, let's say our quota will not be disturbed," he added.

In the last two days, Prabowo-Gibran has gained support from the Nasdem Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB). The Chairman of Nasdem, Surya Paloh, even explicitly stated his support for the coalition of political parties supporting the Prabowo-Gibran administration after a meeting with Prabowo at his residence in Jakarta on Thursday (25/4). In the 2024 Presidential Election, both parties will support the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.

The elected President and Vice President, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, were officially announced as president and vice president by the General Election Commission at the KPU RI building in Jakarta on Wednesday (April 24th, 2024).

According to Dradjad, the description of the cabinet from Prabowo conveyed to KIM is not only limited to ministerial allocations for political parties in KIM, but also the allocation of seats for parties that join after the 2024 presidential election. This description further convinces each party in KIM not to worry when there are new parties that become rivals in the previous presidential election and join forces.

"So, we warmly welcome (other political parties joining). The goal is for the Prabowo-Gibran program to be implemented effectively and on time because it requires a solid majority coalition in the DPR. PAN has no concerns whatsoever about the seat allocation in the cabinet because KIM has already prepared an allocation for political parties that join after the decision of the Constitutional Court that confirms Prabowo-Gibran's victory in the 2024 Presidential Election," he explained.

However, Dradjad did not want to go into detail regarding the cabinet description that Prabowo and the political party leaders in KIM had discussed.

The description of Prabowo's cabinet conveyed to KIM is not only limited to ministerial allocations for political parties in KIM, but also seats for parties that join after the end of the 2024 Presidential Election.

Because the discussion is still in its early stages. There will be further discussions so that the depiction presented by Prabowo can still change. Changes are also possible while waiting for the number of new political parties joining the KIM.

Previously, Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani stated that after PKB and Nasdem supported Prabowo-Gibran, his side still tried to embrace other political parties, especially the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the Welfare Justice Party (PKS) which have not yet decided on their political position post-election. "We continue to communicate," he said.

"And actually, the dichotomy between politicians and professionals is no longer relevant. Because among politicians, there are also many who work as professionals. Many are professional lawyers, professional entrepreneurs. It will be Mr. Prabowo who will decide on that," he added.

Although Dradjad mentioned that there is an outline of ministerial allocation for political parties that join after the presidential election, some elites in PKB previously denied that there were any discussions regarding the cabinet during the meeting between Prabowo and the Chairman of PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar, last Wednesday.

"That meeting only discussed substances for the benefit of the nation. Details and especially concerning the distribution of ministers have not been discussed at all," said Deputy Secretary General of PKB Syaiful Huda.

Regarding the issue of ministerial positions for PKB, PKB also does not want to rush into discussing it. This is because there is still a long time before the inauguration of Prabowo-Gibran as president-vice president on October 20th.

"For the PKB, it will still be a long time until October 20," he said.
