Kafka Summit Asia Pacific Opens in Bangalore

BANGALORE, KOMPAS — Confluent Inc, a leading global data streaming pioneer, held Kafka Summit Asia Pacific first in Bangalore, India, Thursday (2/5/2024) this afternoon. The meeting will bridge information technology thinkers from various world companies to build real time data architectures to improve their companies' business operations.

The Kafka Summit was held on Thursday at 10.00 Bangalore time or 13.30 WIB at the Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Convention Center. This event invited more than 3,800 people. Kompas journalist, Siwi Yunita, reported directly from Bangalore.

Kafka or Apache Kafka® is the most popular open source data streaming software for collecting, processing, storing and analyzing data at scale. This device is used to build real time data channels and streaming applications.

Jay Kreps, co-founder and CEO of Confluent, told Kompas in Bangalore, said that currently the need for real time data is very necessary. For customer service, for example, data is needed that is real time and accurate.

He took the example of online airline reservation services. The airline provides one special price ticket with free cancellation service. If the airline does not have adequate real time technology, then one special price ticket can be purchased by two or more customers, but the system can only accept one purchase.

"As a result, other customers are unable to get the special tickets with the cancellation-free service that they want. Even though they have already paid. This could lead to complaints," said Jay.

Currently the need for 'real time' data is very necessary. For customer service, for example, 'real time' and accurate data is needed.

At today's Kafka Summit, attendees can learn how this technology can help companies build real time data architectures.

“Good real time data is critical to creating more engaging customer experiences, improving business operations, and driving innovation across their product and service offerings,” said Kamal Brar, Senior Vice President Confluent Asia Pacific, in press release received by Kompas.
