Tebet Police Arrests Drug Dealer Who Targets Teenage Consumers

Tebet Police officers arrested a drug dealer who was selling crystal methamphetamine from a boarding house. Their consumers are also diverse.

The Tebet Police Department in South Jakarta, arrested a drug dealer on Wednesday (8/5/2024). The perpetrator did not hesitate to market it to teenagers and even children.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Police Tebet, South Jakarta, uncovered narcotics smuggling targeting residents living in South Jakarta, including school children. The danger of drug abuse is increasingly penetrating big cities.

In this case, one suspect with the initial KP (50) was arrested in Setiabudi, South Jakarta. In his rented room, the police confiscated several pieces of evidence, such as 488 grams of crystal meth, one digital scale, and three mobile phones.

Head of Tebet Police Station Commissioner Murodih, on Wednesday (8/5/2024), stated that this case was revealed after receiving reports from residents in the vicinity who were suspicious of drug transactions taking place in one of the rented houses. "We conducted an investigation for three days to uncover this case," said Murodih.

The perpetrator, who is an entrepreneur, obtained methamphetamine-type drugs from someone he contacted via cell phone. There is no caller ID, it just says private number.

The issue of air pollution is not new. The community's condition, which is threatened by air pollution, has been happening for a long time. There is also no shortage of research evidence indicating the threat of the impacts of air pollution. However, this has not yet pushed for significant efforts in controlling air pollution. He marketed his products from a boarding house and had customers ranging from adults to teenagers.

This illegal business was undertaken by KP due to economic necessity. The job as a dealer has been carried out since 2023. "However, until now we are still investigating the amount of shabu that he has successfully distributed," said Murodih.

Some vulnerable areas are located in apartment buildings or even hangouts. "Because drugs have infiltrated the community through socializing," he continued.

Starting from hanging out, drugs can circulate among children.

For his actions, KP is charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2) Sub 112 of the Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009. The punishment he faces is around 20 years to life imprisonment.

Head of the South Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Bintoro, Friday (26/4/2024), said that this case occurred on Monday (22/4/2024) starting from a transaction offering prostitution services from perpetrators AN and BH. "They called two children, namely FA (16) and AP (16), to carry out prostitution transactions," he said.

Based on the suspect's confession, AN has already ordered the "service" of AP four times. While FA is a "new recruit" called upon by AP to serve customers. Both of them were paid Rp 1.5 million.

This phenomenon is very dangerous considering that drugs can easily infiltrate children through socializing. "Starting from hanging out, drugs can circulate among children," he said.

Previously, Deputy Head of Polda Metro Jaya Brigadier General (Pol) Suyudi Ario Seto said that his staff was committed to fighting all forms of drug abuse considering that its impact would be very dangerous for the nation's generation. According to him, drugs are the root of a number of crimes, such as brawls, theft and other crimes.

Therefore, the role of the community is greatly needed, especially if they see or even have family members who are addicts. "Immediate rehabilitation is available in every level of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. It's all free of charge," he said.
