Elva Farhi: Allegedly Related to Sexual Violence, PSI DPD Chairman Anthony Norman Lianto Resigns

PSI is committed to supporting victims in the recovery process and supporting efforts to prevent cases of sexual violence.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS - Chairman of the West Jakarta Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Solidarity Party, Anthony Norman Lianto, has resigned. The information was confirmed by the Chairman of the Jakarta Regional Leadership Council of PSI, Elva Farhi Qalbina, on Thursday (28/3/2024).

Norman said Elva had resigned from his position as Chair of the West Jakarta PSI DPD since Tuesday (26/3/2024). At the same time, accusations emerged against Norman that linked him to the alleged case of sexual violence.

"We want to emphasize that our party does not tolerate any form of sexual violence against anyone," Elva said through a messaging application.

The issue of air pollution is not new. The condition of the community being threatened by air pollution has been ongoing for some time. Until Thursday (28/3/2024) evening,Kompas tried to confirm this case by sending a message via a conversation application to Norman. However, there has been no response from Norman or the party representing him.

Intimidated

Previously, a woman with the initial W (29) claimed to have been a victim of sexual harassment by Norman as the perpetrator. W's confession was conveyed through an interview that was aired on a Tiktok account and went viral on social media on Monday (25/3/2024).

Initially, the woman from Surakarta, Central Java, admitted that she was interested in becoming part of the party bearing the red rose symbol. W also said that he had been accepted to work as a PSI buzzer.

W explained the beginning of the sexual violence incident which occurred on December 5 2023. At that time, he had only worked as a buzzer at PSI for one day. By force, Norman asked him to come to the West Jakarta PSI DPD Office in Green Garden at night.

"But, when I arrived there, there was no one. I was called for work matters, but instead, I was taken to a locked room," said W.

Now we are still in the stage of collecting evidence.

Afterwards, W admitted to receiving threats from Norman and was asked not to tell anyone about what had happened to him. W was also asked to pretend not to know Norman when they meet.

This intimidation, said W, occurred after two days of the alleged sexual violence experienced, to be precise on December 7 2023.

As for W, he has reported the incident that happened to him to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. He claimed to seek justice for the incident by reporting it to the police. W reported the incident accompanied by his legal representative, Tommy Lambuaso.

Tommy stated that initially, W reported Norman to the Jakarta Metro Police on December 12, 2023, or seven days after the rape incident took place.

However, the report was rejected at that time. The police officers argued that Norman was running for political office as a legislative candidate at that time.

Finally, Norman was reported back to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on January 10, 2024. The report was registered with report number STTLP/B/135/1/2024/SPKT POLDA METRO JAYA. "Currently, we are still in the process of collecting evidence," said Tommy.

Tommy added that a number of witnesses from his party who knew about the incident had also been questioned by the police.

So far, there has been no official statement from Polda Metro Jaya regarding this case.
