Minister's Name Circulating Claimed to be Hoax, Official Formation After Prabowo Was Inaugurated

There are several names from political parties and professionals who are predicted to lead certain ministries.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Lists of the next government's cabinet are widely circulating on social media. Apart from names, ministerial quotas from political and professional parties are also mentioned. Even so, the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka camp denied this news because the official formation of the cabinet would be revealed after the inauguration of the elected president.

"The list that is circulating is definitely a hoax. The Cabinet that knows and decides is Mr. Prabowo, he will be the one who directly conveys it to the public after the inauguration," said spokesperson for Prabowo Subianto, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, when contacted from Jakarta on Wednesday (8/5/2024).

Information regarding cabinet formation that often circulates has never been officially released by the Prabowo-Gibran team. The reason for the widespread circulation, continued Dahnil, is probably because many parties or groups are enthusiastic about helping the Prabowo-Gibran government.

The issue of air pollution is not new. The community has long been threatened by air pollution, and there is plenty of research evidence showing the dangers of its impact. However, this has not yet led to significant efforts in controlling air pollution. As a result, residents increasingly suffer in the grip of air pollution. The Indonesia Maju coalition (KIM) that supports Prabowo-Gibran consists of nine political parties. Four of them, namely the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, National Mandate Party (PAN), and Democratic Party, are in parliament. In the cabinet formation that is circulating, Golkar and Gerindra will receive five ministers each, while the Democratic Party and PAN will each receive four ministers.

Popular names, such as Airlangga Hartarto, Agus Gumiwang, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, Meutya Hafid, and Nurul Arifin, are rumored to fill positions as ministers from Golkar. From the Democratic Party, there are Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Hinca Pandjaitan, while from the National Mandate Party (PAN), there are Zulkifli Hasan and Eko Patrio. Meanwhile, from the Gerindra Party, there are names such as Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Maruarar Sirait, Budiman Sudjatmiko, and Ferry Juliantono.

Non-parliamentary parties are also not left behind in getting ministerial or deputy ministerial quotas. From the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) there are the names Grace Natalie and Albert Aries. From the Crescent Star Party (PBB) there is the name Yusril Ihza Mahendra, while from the Gelora Party there is Fahri Hamzah. One of the parties that failed to take part in 2024 Election, but supports Prabowo-Gibran, Prima Party, is also in formation, namely Agus Jabo Priyono and Mangapul Silalahi.

The circulating news is definitely fake. The Cabinet who knows and decides is Mr. Prabowo, and he himself will convey it to the public after the inauguration.

A number of high-ranking Golkar Party officials welcomed the arrival of the leadership of the Indonesian Solidarity Party at the Golkar DPP Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/4/2023).

Apart from KIM members, political parties that have declared their cooperation with Prabowo-Gibran following the election are also entitled to ministerial positions. From the National Awakening Party (PKB), there are Hanif Dhakiri and Faisol Reza. Meanwhile, from the Nasdem Party, there are Irma Chaniago and Willy Aditya.

A number of nonpartisan or professional figures are also given space in the Prabowo-Gibran government, according to the circulating information. They include Lieutenant General (Ret.) M Herindra as Defense Minister, General (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman or General (Ret.) Andika Perkasa as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and Bambang Brodjonegoro as Finance Minister or Minister of National Development Planning (PPN).

When asked about his name being listed in the cabinet lineup, Agus Jabo stated that the information is not true. The official version will be announced directly by the elected president and vice president.

"As Mr. Dasco stated some time ago, he mentioned that many versions of the cabinet arrangement are not true. So, let's just wait for the official version later," he said.
