Happy Working Anies-Sandi
JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Today, President Joko Widodo inaugurates Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno as the governor and deputy governor of Jakarta, respectively. Anies stressed on Monday (16/10) that this was not the peak of the struggle, but a whole new phase of struggle. Today, both will work to fulfill their promises.
As governor, Anies has the task of uniting the people of Jakarta, who have been divided. Another task is to carry out the pair’s mandate as best as he can.
“Being a governor is a moral responsibility. The task is to implement regulations and work plans, and respond to the problems in society with wisdom,” Anies said during a selamatan (ceremonial meal of gratitude) event in Grand Cempaka Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.
“I intend to do that. I believe a governor does not need to say much to inspire people. We will do that by working. We will work and ask others to work together,” Anies added.
According to Anies, there are three phases in the struggle to become Jakarta governor, which are the campaign phase, the preparation phase and the implementation phase. In the implementation phase, which starts today, he asked all parties to support him in ensuring the lines are still neat and straight.
He and Sandiaga plan to fulfill 23 promises. “I say these are promises, not programs. Promises must be fulfilled,” he said.
Sandiaga confirmed that the mandate is tough and full of challenges. The people have also been waiting for Anies-Sandi’s promises, like the Oke Oce (One Kecamatan One Center of Entrepreneurship) scheme. “We ask to be monitored,” he said.
Sit together
Jakarta is not a city that can stand alone. Jakarta greatly depends on the full support of the nearby areas of Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Bodetabek). After congratulating Anies and Sandiaga, leaders of the neighboring cities raised the importance of a more intense cooperation between Jakarta and Bodetabek to overcome their main problems.
Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar hopes that the Jakarta administration with its new governor and deputy governor can be in constant communication and coordination with its partner regions, so that developments programs can be carried out in synergy.
Many development programs of the Tangerang regency require cooperation with Jakarta, such as the improvement of road networks and traffic alleviation, revamping housing and settlement areas, developing the northern coast and handling floods.
Tangerang Mayor Arief Rachadiono Wismansyah officially met with Anies on Tuesday (8/8) at the Transition House in the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) in Jakarta. In the meeting, Arief, who was accompanied by Tangerang Secretary Dadi Budaeri, put forward several suggestions.
Arief had a special request for Anies and Sandiaga, which was to have the construction of Corridor 13 of the Blok M-Ciledug Transjakarta bus overpass road be extended to CBD Ciledug and Poris, then have it integrated with the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport high-speed train.
He also hoped to improve the handling of floods, particularly in relation to the revamping of Angke River, the runoff from Mookervart River and in the border area between Tangerang and Jakarta.
South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany specifically asked Jakarta and PT MRT Jakarta to add a mass rapid transit (MRT) route from Lebak Bulus to Ciputat.
“Since a lot of South Tangerang residents work in Jakarta, it will be helpful to have adequate MRT or other available integrated public transportation services,” she said.
Must be in synergy
Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris Abdul Shomad mentioned a similar problem. “We have met and discussed cooperation between both parties, such as in preventing floods in Jakarta by revitalizing the lakes in Depok. Depok is prepared to be a city of comfortable settlements and will accommodate Jakarta’s workers. This requires cooperation with Jakarta, particularly in preparing infrastructure,” he said.
Like other leaders of Jakarta’s partner regions, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya and Bogor Regent Nurhayati admitted that their administrations have already been receiving help from Jakarta.
“Every year, there is aid from Jakarta related to the interest of the people of Jakarta regarding the environment, which is flood mitigation in Jakarta,” Bima said.
What then happens is that the financial aid from Jakarta is not adequate to realize the environment program. Sometimes the funds are not absorbed because of late disbursement.
“I hope that we are more involved in the process. This is an integrated development that must be done in synergy and be linked to each other,” Bima said.
Nurhayati added that there need to be a more comprehensive and intense discussions to overcome problems with the Ciliwung River basin area.
