Technically, it is possible to create a panic button in the application. When a passenger is under threat or is treated unpleasantly, he just pushes the button so that the application companies know what is going on.

No one denies that the emergence of internet-based transportation services facilitates many parties. The digital revolution has altered the landscape of transportation.
Tension between internet-based transportation service providers and conventional transportation services have occurred in a number of places, even in a number of countries. However, as time goes by, there are adjustments and adaptations.
Online transportation services are here to stay. The economic collaboration bringing together mobile application providers, driver partners and passengers has changed consumer behavior, and all three parties enjoy the benefits.
However, the recent criminal offense against Yun Siska Rohani and ST at the hands of an online taxi driver highlights the need for an aspect often overlooked amid general excitement about the ease afforded by the digital revolution: passenger safety. Losing sight of the safety aspect is the flipside of technological progress. There are always those who take advantage of the weakness of a system for their own benefit or to do evil things.
The recruitment of driver partners should be the concern of the app providers. Educating their driver partners, including on the ethics of communicating with passengers, should be their responsibility. In the era of ratings, the driver partners must also understand that high ratings will be obtained if their service is good. A good consumer rating will correlate with good earnings. That is why the application companies must be held responsible for educating their drivers, who are from various backgrounds. The application providers, morally and legally, have to assume responsibility for the behavior of driver partners that commit crimes against or harass passengers.
The state must show presence in this context. Transportation Ministry Regulation No. 108/2017 has to be enforced so that the requirements for driver partners meet formal minimum standards. Requirements pertaining to driver’s licenses, vehicle tests and competence certificates are basic prerequisites that must be met. Do not just look to quick growth in valuation at the expense of these requirements. Requirements to display drivers\' details along with photographs in cars – long imposed on conventional taxis – must also apply to internet-based services for the comfort of passengers.
The government has to use its authority to order the application companies and driver partners to put passenger safety first. Technically, it is possible to create a panic button in the application. When a passenger is under threat or is treated unpleasantly, he just pushes the button so that the application companies know what is going on.
Legal and technological endeavors must continue, so that the digital revolution can progress. Every challenge must be responded to. That is the hallmark of digital technology striving for perfection, is it not?
