JAKARTA, KOMPAS— The National Police has officially handed over case dossiers of three suspects allegedly involved in the issuance of forged travel documents for Joko Soegiarto Tjandra, a convict in a Bank Bali case, to the general prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office (AGO). However, the pre-trial motion submitted by one of the suspects, Anita Kolopaking, continued.
Previously, investigators from the National Police\'s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) found two travel documents issued by Brigadier General (Pol) Prasetijo Utomo for fugitive Joko Soegiarto Tjandra to allow the latter to travel within the country. Prasetijo was allegedly ordered to burn the travel documents in efforts to hamper the investigation process conducted by the police.
The head of the public information bureau of the National Police’s public relations department, Brigadier General (Pol) Awi Setiyono, said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday that the filling of the case dossiers for the three suspects related to the forged travel documents was carried out by investigators of the general crimes unit at Bareskrim.
"The first case dossier is for suspect JST [Joko Soegiarto Tjandra] himself, then the second for Mrs. DK [Anita Dewi Kolopaking] and the third for PU [Brigadier General Pol Prasetijo Utomo], "said Awi.
The three case dossiers were handed over to the general prosecutor.
Awi said Anita\'s case dossier was 2,025 pages long, while those of Joko Tjandra and Prasetijo Utomo, were 1,879 and 2,080 pages respectively. The three case dossiers were handed over to the general prosecutor.
Previously, Bareskrim investigators had also handed over case dossiers related to alleged corruption in the removal of Joko Tjandra from Interpol\'s wanted list (red notice). The four case dossiers were for suspect Brigadier General (Pol) Prasetijo Utomo, Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte, Joko Tjandra, and Tommy Sumardi.
According to Awi, the ongoing investigation against state prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari was not related to the cases that have already been submitted. The investigation of prosecutor Pinangki prosecutor was carried out by the corruption crime unit at Bareskrim as part of the efforts to find other crimes allegedly conducted by Joko Tjandra.
"Investigators are still clarifying the case, collecting more information and finding more indications. If the initial evidence is sufficient, the investigation will be continue further. The investigation is currently at its initial stage,” said Alwi.
Spokesperson for Anita Kolopaking\'s legal team, Tito Hananta, said that as long as the case had not been transferred to court, the pretrial motion would continue. Anita’s lawyers hoped that the legal team from Bareskrim would be able to attend the pretrial hearing.
The team of lawyers also prepared evidence and witnesses for that, he added.
According to Tito, the team of lawyers will prove that the naming of Anita as a suspect in the use of forged travel documents was legally wrong. The team of lawyers also prepared evidence and witnesses for that, he added.
"We believe that Mrs. Anita was mistreated in this case and we are ready with our arguments," said Tito.
Anita’s pretrial hearing was previously postponed by the panel of judges at the South Jakarta district court because the plaintiff, a Bareskrim investigator, was not present. The trial was postponed until Sept. 7, 2020.
