The Head of the Implementation Committee of the Gendo Law Office Open Karate Championship 2024, Putu Chris Budhi Setyawan, explained that the karate championship, which will begin on Friday (19/4/2024), is planned to be attended by 1,150 karatekas from Bali and outside Bali, ranging from children to karatekas with backgrounds in professions such as lawyers, police and military.

"This open karate championship is divided into achievement classes and festival classes," said Chris in a press conference at the GOR Lila Bhuana Building, Denpasar City, Wednesday (17/4/2024).

The person in charge of Gendo Law Office's Open Karate Championship 2024, I Wayan "Gendo" Suardana, revealed that this national-level karate championship is motivated by the hope of discovering karate athletes as well as providing a platform for karate practitioners to gather and establish connections.

"The spirit of this activity is as a moment of friendship as well as a place for achievements in karate in the form of a championship. Apart from that, as a forum for young karateka," added Gendo Suardana.

The open karate championship has a total prize money of IDR 34 million and a trophy. Chris stated that in holding the first Gendo Law Office Open Karate Championship, competitions for achievements and competitions for festivals were held with participants from juniors and seniors. The committee prepared trophies for the winners of the overall champion category and the best of the best category, in addition to medals. Chris stated that the karate championship followed World Karate Federation (WKF) standards.

Gendo Suardana further revealed that the holding of the national level open karate championship in Denpasar City, Bali, received support from various parties, including from the Indonesian Karate-Do Sports Federation (Forki), Kushin Ryu M Karate-Do Indonesia (KKI), and local governments in Bali as well as from dojos in Bali and outside Bali. Gendo Suardana said that the 2024 Gendo Law Office Open Karate Championship was also supported by the Acting Governor of Bali, Sang Made Mahendra Jaya, who is planned to open the karate championship on Friday.

"This may be interesting because this is the first karate championship organized by a law firm," said Gendo Suardana, who serves as the Managing Partner of Gendo Law Office and is also a black belt in karate from KKI.

"In addition, this championship also opens a special class for legal professionals such as lawyers, notaries, and prosecutors, in addition to classes for the military and police," said Gendo Suardana adding.

The 2024 Gendo Law Office Open Karate Championship has adopted the theme "Mahayu Hayuningrat Knights", which is interpreted as upholding the spirit of sportsmanship and cultivating noble character through karate championships. According to Gendo, this theme is in line with the legal profession, which is bound by a professional oath to always uphold truth.
