Various Creations Enliven Events Towards Banyumas Fashion Festival 2024

A number of Banyumas designers and vocational school students are preparing to enliven the fashion parade by displaying Banyumas batik.

PURWOKERTO, KOMPAS — A total of 12 designers together with 66 vocational high school students enlivened the "Road to Banyumas Fashion Festival 2024”. Various fashion creations with typical Banyumas batik will be demonstrated and exhibited in a fashion parade and fashion exhibition at the Soetedja Purwokerto Arts Building, Banyumas, Central Java, Saturday (20/4/2024).

”The hope is that in the future Banyumas batik can shine or sparkle locally, nationally and internationally. "We also involve vocational school children to regenerate designers into young people because in Banyumas there are many talented talents," said the Founder of the Banyumas Fashion Festival (BFF) Dwi Kristanto, in Purwokerto, Wednesday (17 /4/2024).

The peak of the Banyumas Fashion Festival event will be held on November 2-3 next year. This BFF 2024 event is in its third year. Young people from vocational high schools were involved, from stage design to fashion shows.

Dwi hopes that this fashion show and festival event can serve as a platform for appreciating works and designers can find buyers for their creations.

Ari Nugroho, the owner of the fashion brand Dejarumi, stated that in the "Road to Banyumas Fashion Festival 2024," they will raise the theme "Bawor Klintung" or Bawor's trip. Bawor is a punakawan character who has a straightforward and honest nature. Bawor is also an icon of the Banyumas community.

"In the Bawor Klintung or Bawor Jalan Jalan collection, Dejarumi will present six looks. Consisting of a shirt, outerwear, jacket, and also trousers with a cargo model, 7/8 trousers for a relaxed impression and shorts. "This collection is very suitable as a reference for OOTD (outfit of the day) for a leisurely walk enjoying the tourism and nature of Banyumas," explained Ari.

The makers of handmade batik are drying dozens of pieces of batik on rocks and grass in Papringan Village, Banyumas, Central Java, on Thursday (6/8/2020).

According to Ari, Dejarumi remains true to the brand's DNA, casual batik clothing for men. This clothing style combines Banyumas batik with materials from natural fibers to produce a relaxed design, but can still be worn for semi-formal events.

"We make shirts, jackets, outerwear and trousers, some batik also using natural materials. This is support for environmental sustainability. "For prices, starting from IDR 450,000," he said.

The Head of the Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Agency of Banyumas Regency, Setia Rahendra, stated that Banyumas has a wealth of cultural heritage that can be a source of inspiration and has a diversity of Nusantara textile products. This becomes a strength to make Banyumas a center for shopping tourism destinations for fashion products and one of the fashion cities in Indonesia.
