Acting Mayor of Tanjung Pinang Becomes Suspect of Forgery of Land Ownership Certificates

The police named Acting Mayor of Tanjung Pinang Hasan as a suspect in a land case that occurred seven years ago.

BATAM, KOMPAS — Bintan Police, Riau Islands, named the Acting Mayor of Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands, Hasan as a suspect in the case forgery of land ownership documents. This case occurred in 2014-2016 when Hasan served as Head of East Bintan District, Bintan Regency.

Head Bintan Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Riky Iswoyo, Friday (19/4/2024), stated that the police had named three people with the initials H, R and B as suspects in forgery of ownership documents land. Riky confirmed that the initials H referred to were Acting Mayor of Tanjung Pinang Hasan.

"There is no plan for detention yet. Currently, there is an ongoing process after the suspect has been named. We will communicate with the Ministry of Home Affairs as the appointment of suspect H was done by that ministry," said Riky when contacted from Batam.

Riky explained that Hasan was reported by PT Expasindo for allegedly forging land ownership documents of 2.6 hectares. The case occurred from 2014-2016 when Hasan was still serving as the East Bintan Subdistrict Head.

According to Riky, Hasan was charged with Article 263 Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2 and Article 264 Paragraph 1 juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). Hasan faces a maximum of 8 years in prison.

Hasan has not responded to telephone calls and short messages from Kompas for confirmation. Apart from serving as Acting Mayor of Tanjung Pinang, Hasan also serves as Head of the Communications and Information Service of the Riau Islands Provincial Government.

We will communicate with the Ministry of Home Affairs because the appointment of suspect H was carried out by that ministry.

On April 2, 2024, Hasan underwent a seven-hour examination at the Bintan Police Station. Speaking to reporters, he stated that he was bombarded with 33 questions by the investigators.

PT Expasindo owns a land area of 100 hectares in Sei Lekop Village. The company reported that their land of 2.6 hectares in that area was transferred to residents without proper procedures. Hasan was accused of signing several documents related to the transfer of land ownership.

According to Hasan, the issue of land ownership overlap between PT Expasindo and residents has been attempted to be resolved through mediation, but has come to a dead end.
