After being supported by the Golkar Party DPD, support for General Chair Airlangga Hartarto strengthened. After Kosgoro, now Satkar.

The Indonesian Ulama Working Unit provides support to Airlangga Hartarto to return as the Chairman of the Golkar Party for the 2024-2029 period during a halalbihalal event in Jakarta, Tuesday (23/4/2024).

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Halalbihalal The Big Family of the Indonesian Work Unit or Satkar Ulama, one of the onderbow Golkar parties, Tuesday (23/4/2024) evening, declared his support for the General Chair of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto to return to lead the party bearing the banyan symbol. Present at the event were Airlangga and the top management of the Golkar Party.

Representing Satkar Ulama Indonesia from the Golkar Party, Idris Laena revealed that 26 Regional Leadership Councils (DPD) of Satkar Ulama throughout Indonesia are ready to support Airlangga to run again as the Golkar Party's Chairman for the period of 2024-2029. Satkar Ulama's support was given unanimously for Airlangga. The reason for supporting Airlangga is due to his success in winning the legislative and presidential elections of 2024. The elections were able to be overcome well by Golkar outside of the predictions of many pollsters.

"Thank God, the Golkar Party became the second winner with a total of 102 seats in the Indonesian Parliament, up from the current 85 seats," said Idris during a post-Ramadan gathering with Golkar Party officials.

According to them, the success is inseparable from Airlangga's genius strategy and leadership as the Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Golkar Party. The legislative election was also followed by Golkar's successful efforts in winning the presidential and vice presidential candidates that they supported, namely Prabowo-Gibran.

"Regarding this achievement, I believe it is the decree of the Chairman of Satkar Ulama that it is obligatory for all of us to support and fight for Mr. Airlangga Hartarto to lead the Golkar Party once again as the Chairman for the 2024-2029 period," he said firmly.

"As a result of this achievement, I believe that it is compulsory for all of us to support and fight for Mr. Airlangga Hartarto to lead Golkar Party again as chairman in the upcoming 2024-2029 term. This is the fatwa of the Chairman of Satkar Ulama."

Furthermore, Idris hopes that Airlangga can be elected by acclamation. Therefore, Satkar Ulama has also communicated with all parties and recommended that they support Airlangga. He also mentioned that the hope of Satkar Ulama cadres who participate in the 2024 election is to be given a task by Airlangga so that they can contribute and oversee his leadership in growing the Golkar Party.

Airlangga is grateful that one of the Golkar Party's mass organizations, established since March 13, 1970, is willing to support him as the next Chairman of Golkar. The candidates for regional head proposed by the Golkar Party must be close to the ulama in order to succeed in the upcoming election contest.

Airlangga Hartarto's chances of leading the Golkar Party for the next five years are strengthened after the support of the regional leadership council chairmen at levels I and II for the Minister of Economic Affairs.

"Golkar's target is to win 60 percent of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections," he stressed.

So far, the chances for Airlangga Hartarto to lead the Golkar Party for the next five years have strengthened after support from the leaders of level I and II regional council was expressed towards the Minister of Economic Affairs. The main reason for this renewed support is the increase in Golkar's vote acquisition in the 2024 election (Kompas.id, 17/3/2024).

The race for the chairman position of the Golkar Party has already heated up even though the political party's national congress, symbolized by the banyan tree, is still nine months away. Several names have been mentioned to enliven the race for chairman, including Airlangga Hartarto, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Golkar Party.

According to him, support for Airlangga to be able to become the Chairman of Golkar Party for the period of 2024-2029 emerged at the Breaking of the Fast and Gathering event with the Regional Leadership Council of Golkar Party throughout Indonesia in Bali on Friday (15/3/2024).

The event was attended by the Chairman of Golkar, Airlangga Hartarto, and the ranks of the Golkar Central Leadership Council (DPP), all of the DPD I chairpersons (provincial level), some of the DPD II chairpersons (district/city level), and a number of senior Golkar politicians. The seniors referred to are the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, former Chairman of Golkar, Aburizal Bakrie, and Chairman of the Golkar Ethics Council, Mohammad Hatta.
