Legitimately, Prabowo-Gibran are the Elected Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The General Election Commission has named Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidate in 2024 Election. The pair promoted by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition received the most votes in the 2024 Presidential Election and received at least 20 percent of the votes in each province.

The appointment of Prabowo-Gibran as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates was carried out at the Open Plenary Meeting to Determine the Elected Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates for the 2024 Election which was held at the General Election Commission Building (KPU), Jakarta, Wednesday (24/4/2024).

On that occasion, seven KPU leaders signed and announced KPU Decision Number 504 of 2024 regarding the appointment of the elected Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates in the 2024 General Election.

The expression of the members of the General Election Commission (KPU) after the Open Plenary Meeting for the Determination of the 2024 Election Results at the KPU in Jakarta, on Wednesday (30/3/2024).

In Decree No. 504 read by KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari, Prabowo-Gibran obtained 96,214,691 votes or 58.59 percent of the total national valid votes. The pair supported by the Indonesian Maju Coalition also earned at least 20 percent of the votes in each province scattered across 38 in Indonesia.

A copy of the KPU decree was then handed over to several parties present at the plenary meeting, namely the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, the Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, as well as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto who represented President Joko Widodo.

The issue of air pollution is not new. The situation where the community is threatened by air pollution has been going on for a long time. There is also no shortage of research evidence indicating the threats posed by the impact of air pollution. However, in reality, this has not been able to push for significant efforts in controlling air pollution. Consequently, residents are increasingly suffering, living in the midst of air pollution. The General Election Commission also submitted a copy of the decree to the leaders of the Regional Leadership Council, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, and the leaders of the political parties that supported the three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates. However, the copy of the decree for the political parties supporting the Ganjar-Mahfud pair was only received by the United Development Party that was present.

In his speech, Prabowo stated that the contestation for the 2024 Presidential Election has ended. He also thanked Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD who competed in the 2024 Presidential Election.

According to Prabowo, the presidential election contest was quite harsh. All parties must be tired and there are some who are dissatisfied and disappointed with the results. However, the people have made their choice to elect the president and vice president for the next five-year period.

"If the contestation is too mild, if the candidates are not sharp and tough, it is not a choice for the people. The people want choices, the people want comparisons," said Prabowo.
