Accepting the KPU's Determination, Prabowo Invites All Parties to Work Together

Prabowo Subianto said that as elected president, he was tasked with collaborating with many parties.

The selected presidential and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, arrived at the General Election Commission Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (24/4/2024) at 9:50 am local time. Prabowo-Gibran will receive their appointment as president and vice president-elect from the KPU.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrived at the General Election Commission Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/4/2024), at 09.50 WIB. Prabowo-Gibran's presence to accept the appointment of KPU as elected president and vice president.

Upon arriving at the General Election Commission (KPU), Prabowo immediately greeted a number of supporters who were present, including the National Campaign Team Chairman of Prabowo-Gibran, Roslan Roesani, and the General Chairman of the Solidarity Party of Indonesia, Kaesang Pangarep. Also present were the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board, Bahlil Lahadilia, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Hadi Tjahjanto.

Before entering the Election Commission, Prabowo stated that he came to the Election Commission to accept the appointment as the elected president. "We have followed all the processes of the presidential and vice-presidential elections. Today we receive the decision of the Election Commission. Next, we will start working together," said Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, as the elected president, his duty is to establish cooperation with various parties. "The people expect and demand all political leaders to work together and work for the people," said Prabowo.

Presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, arrived at the General Election Commission Building to attend the appointment of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as president and vice president-elect. According to Anies, their presence was to respect the democratic process.

The people expect and demand all political leaders to cooperate and work for the people.

At exactly 10 o'clock, presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, arrived at the KPU. Anies stated that his presence at the KPU was to respect the ongoing democratic process. On the other hand, he also reminded about the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK), which noted several violations.

"We are here to honor the process that we are working on, without forgetting and wanting to remind everyone that during the recent Constitutional Court session, there were many notes that need to be addressed for improvements. But, we must also respect the state process on the other hand. That is why we are present here," said Anies.

Anies did not provide a definite answer when asked by reporters about the possibility of forming a coalition with the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet. "For now, let's just follow this process first," he said.

Meanwhile, Muhaimin Iskandar stated that he hopes the process of selecting the president and vice-president will be improved. "Every five years we hope to perfect all the weaknesses of our election laws. In fact, PKB still wants to have a right of inquiry, with the aim of reading in detail the weaknesses of our democracy's decline," he said.

Until 10:30, presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD, have not yet arrived at the KPU.
