Allegedly Creating TikTok Content on Train Tracks, Three Bandung Students Get Hit

Three high school students were hit by a train in Bandung. They are suspected of creating TikTok content at train crossings.

The body of a resident, a victim of a train collision at the Cikudapateuh-Bandung crossing at Kilometer 157 downstream of Jalan Kota Bandung, was put into an ambulance early Thursday morning (25/4/2024). The victim, a high school student, is named Arya Pasha.

BANDUNG, KOMPAS — Three students who were suspected of creating social media content Tiktok were hit by a train< /a> at the Jalan Cikudapateuh-Bandung Kilometer 157 railway crossing, Bandung City, West Java, Thursday (25/4/2024) early morning. One student died and two of his colleagues survived although they were injured.

The Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operations Area 2 in Bandung, Ayep Hanapi, stated that the incident occurred on Thursday at 00.20. The victims were at the level crossing passed by the Serayu Train from the east heading towards Bandung Station.

Ayep stated that the victim who died was Arya Pasha. Meanwhile, the two injured victims are Naufal Alfaris and Muhamad Farel. The victims are high school students in one of the high schools in Bandung City.

"Arya died at the scene of the incident, while Farel suffered severe injuries as a result of this event. Meanwhile, one of the victims only suffered minor injuries as they were able to save themselves," he said.

Public Relations Manager of Regional Operation (Daop) 2 Bandung of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Ayep Hanapi, when met at Bandung Station, West Java, on Thursday (4/4/2024).

Ayep revealed that before the incident, three victims were allegedly making Tiktok content in the middle of a railway crossing. Meanwhile, the Serayu train was traveling at a high speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

"The train operator had repeatedly sounded the horn according to the PT KAI procedure. However, all three of them did not immediately leave the railroad track until the incident occurred," said Ayep.

Ayep explained that there are still people who ignore regulations and warnings to be careful when crossing railway tracks. However, according to the operation standard applied in PT KAI, every train driver is required to blow the horn when approaching a location where there are many road users passing through.

He also reminded the public not to engage in dangerous activities around railway tracks. In addition to being hazardous, such activities also have the potential to violate the law.

Members of the Edan Sepur Community in Bandung covered the area in front of the railroad crossing gate of Kiaracondong Station in Bandung, West Java, on Friday (22/3/2024). This action was taken as the train passed through the crossing.

"KAI firmly prohibits the public from being on the train tracks for any activities other than for operational purposes of the train. We also involve train enthusiasts' community to provide socialization to the public," said Ayep.

Abdullah Putra Gandhara from the Public Relations of Edan Sepur Indonesia Community, Region 2 Bandung, regrets the incident involving the three students. He stated that the Edan Sepur Community has been collaborating with PT KAI, the police, and the local government to provide socialization to prevent residents from engaging in activities at railway crossings that could be very fatal.

"The Edan Sepur Indonesia Community in Region 2 of Bandung continues to conduct socialization activities for the community at five railway crossings in the city of Bandung that are most at risk of violations. The activities take place four times a month for a duration of approximately three hours," said Abdullah.

KAI firmly prohibits the public from being on the railway track for any activities other than for the purpose of railway operations.
