Poppy Hayono Isman, Concert Knocking on Conscience

The Indonesian Cancer Foundation really needs funds, especially for drugs that are not on the BPJS list.

An invitation came through a private message on WhatsApp. It was an invite to watch a musical performance while also making a donation for cancer patients from poor families. The invitation was sent by Poppy Hayono Isman, a fundraising and general affairs officer for the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI) since 1994.

The performance entitled "My Nurani, My Struggle" will still be held on August 20, 2024 at the Jakarta Theatre. In her position as the creative director of the show, Poppy promised that there would be 17 songs sung by professional singer Ari Lasso; oncologists such as Chairman of YKI Prof Dr dr Aru Wisaksono Sudoyo and Dr Ario Djatmiko who flew from Surabaya; as well as YKI supporters, including Minister of Youth and Sports 1993-1998 Hayono Isman, Poppy's husband.

"The Indonesian Cancer Foundation is in dire need of funding for those who are incapable," says Poppy. Even though there is BPJS Health Insurance, patients sometimes need medications that are not listed under the universal insurance. The cost for families who are waiting for the patients is also a burden. "Although there is a shelter called Sasana Husada YKI in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta for the patient's accompanying family, there are still families who cannot afford to stay," added Poppy.

It is hoped that this musical performance can raise sufficient funds to reduce the burden of costs for sufferers in need.

"In the event title, there's the word 'conscience'. It's the deepest feeling to encourage the struggle of helping those in need to succeed. It touches the hearts of donors to contribute while enjoying music," said Poppy.
