Child prostitute dies at the hands of her customer. He was fed drugs. For his actions, the suspect faces 20 years in prison.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The South Jakarta Police arrested AN (48) and BH who were suspected of being negligent and causing the death of a commercial sex worker child. Apart from committing sexual violence through online prostitution, they also force-feed the victims with drugs. Two suspects face up to 20 years in prison.

Head of the South Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Bintoro, Friday (26/4/2024), said that this case occurred on Monday (22/4/2024) starting from a transaction offering prostitution services from perpetrators AN and BH. "They called two children, namely FA (16) and AP (16), to carry out prostitution transactions," he said.

Based on the suspect's confession, AN has ordered "services" from AP four times. Meanwhile, FA is a "newcomer" who was called by AP to serve his customers. Both were paid Rp 1.5 million.

After the transaction was approved, the two victims were then picked up by the two perpetrators and taken to a hotel in the Kebayoran Baru area. "Before going to the hotel, they stopped to eat in the Blok M area," he said.

Arriving at the hotel, the two perpetrators then force-fed the victim with ineks and mixed the two victims' drinks with crystal methamphetamine. The goal is to make the victim unconscious. "The AP victim was unconscious for up to three hours after drinking the methamphetamine mixture," he said.

It was unfortunate for FA, after consuming methamphetamine and ecstasy, he immediately had convulsions. FA was immediately taken to Kebayoran Baru Regional General Hospital. He was brought by two people sent by AN.

Upon arriving at the hospital, FA's life could not be saved. "Both individuals tried to escape. However, hospital security officers captured them," he said. It was from the testimony of both witnesses that the suspect was apprehended.

For their actions, said Bintoro, the two perpetrators are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 338 regarding Murder and Article 359 of the Indonesian Criminal Code regarding Negligence Causing Death. In addition, because the victim is a child, both perpetrators are also charged under the Child Protection Law No. 23 of 2002.

The police also seized several pieces of evidence, including three homemade firearms, five bullets, and the victim's clothes. The two suspects are also charged with Article 1 Paragraph (1) of Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 for possessing illegal weapons. "We are also still investigating where the suspects obtained the drugs and illegal weapons," he said.

Apart from that, said Bintoro, there is the possibility of human trafficking in this case.

The two people tried to escape. However, hospital security officers arrested them.

Due to their actions, both suspects are at risk of facing sanctions of up to 20 years in prison. AN, one of the suspects, admitted to frequently using AP's services. "However, for this particular meeting, it was an invitation from AP himself," he said.

Acting Chairperson of the National Commission on Children, Lia Latifah, said, referring to several cases that had been revealed, that the clients of child prostitutes were none other than those who had mental disorders, namely pedophiles and boomers (aged 56 years and over) who were targeting child prostitutes.

"This relationship is what makes the practice of child prostitution difficult to eradicate," said Lia. It's not surprising that many pimps and philanderers hunt young girls to become business assets. They will usually look for young girls from their photos.

If (the child) is considered physically attractive, they will immediately communicate via direct messaging (direct messenger) on social media. In fact, these pimps or philanderers are willing to spend money to lure young girls.

Therefore, Lia said that socialization to children and parents continue to be carried out to shield children from the urban prostitution industry. "We have already mentored thousands of children to avoid the prostitution business. Because once caught, the future of the child can be threatened," she said.
