West Kalimantan Gubernatorial Election, Incumbent Governor and a Number of Names Submitted to the DPP

There are political parties that have submitted a number of names of candidates for governor of West Kalimantan to be discussed at the DPP. The survey continues to roll out.

PONTIANAK, KOMPAS — The West Kalimantan governor election market continues to roll. There is a political party that has submitted a number of names of potential candidates for governor of West Kalimantan to the Central Leadership Council for discussion. Most other political parties are still exploring the electability of prospective candidates who have registered.

Incumbent Governor of Kalbar Sutarmidji, incumbent Deputy Governor of West Kalimantan Ria Norsan, Chairman of the DPD PDI-P West Kalimantan Lasarus, and former Regent of Kubu Raya Muda Mahendrawan, for example, have registered with the Party's Regional Leadership Council West Kalimantan National Mandate (DPW PAN). The names were then submitted to the DPP for discussion at the DPP PAN National Coordination Meeting on May 9.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Victory of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Golkar Party in West Kalimantan, who is also the Chairman of the Candidate Selection for Regional Heads of DPD Golkar in West Kalimantan, Heri Mustamin, stated that surveys are still being conducted on a number of potential gubernatorial candidates in West Kalimantan. The quickest survey would take two weeks to complete. According to him, the electability survey of potential gubernatorial candidates in West Kalimantan requires a minimum of 21 days before any results are available.

“The survey is still ongoing. "Discussions at the DPP level will await the results of the survey," said Heri.

In selecting regional head candidates, the West Kalimantan Golkar DPD adopted two schemes. First, the Golkar cadres who have been assigned. Then secondly, additional mechanisms because there is a desire by other parties to use Golkar's "boat" in the 2024 Pilkada.

Discussions at the DPP level will await the survey results.

In the deployment mechanism, five Golkar cadres were assigned, one of whom is the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Golkar Party's West Kalimantan Regional Legislative Council, who is also the incumbent West Kalimantan Deputy Governor, Ria Norsan. Then, there is the Deputy Chairman of the West Kalimantan Provincial Legislative Council, Prabasa Anantatur. And lastly, member of Parliament's Commission X, Adrianus Asia Sidot.

In addition, there is Ketapang Regent Martin Rantan. There is also member of the West Kalimantan DPRD, Suma Jenny. Meanwhile, there is an incumbent West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmidji who wants to use the Golkar "boat" mechanism in the 2024 regional elections.

The head of the Democratic Party's Election Winning Body in West Kalimantan, Andi Aswad, said that several potential governor candidates in West Kalimantan who have registered with the Democratic Party's West Kalimantan Regional Leadership Council are currently in the process of exploring their electability in surveys. The survey is given to each potential governor candidate.

"It looks like the survey results will only start to appear in June. "There are three survey institute associations that are recommended," said Andi.

Previously, the Regional Executive Board of the Democratic Party in West Kalimantan had also conducted a screening of candidates for the position of West Kalimantan Governor. As a result, there are four names that have officially registered, including the incumbent Governor of West Kalimantan, Sutarmidji.
