When Prabowo was always involved in meetings at the palace

Prabowo Subianto is not stepping down as Minister of Defense, the government transition is proceeding as is. Prabowo always accompanies the President.

President Joko Widodo accompanied by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto had a discussion with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister cum Singaporean Finance Minister Lawrence Wong on the Veranda of the Bogor Presidential Palace, Monday (29/4/2024). Just like Prabowo, who is the elected president to replace President Jokowi, Lawrence Wong is also the replacement for PM Lee Hsien Loong.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The process of government transition continues after the 2024 election. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, who is also the 2024 elected president, Prabowo Subianto, not only attended every limited meeting outside of his duties and functions, and sat next to President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace or the State Palace in Jakarta, but also received a visit from the prime minister at the Bogor Palace in West Java.

Prabowo also received foreign ministers and ambassadors at his office at the Ministry of Defense, and even visited abroad. After visiting China, Japan and Malaysia at the end of February and March, Prabowo accompanied President Jokowi to receive Singapore's replacement Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong at the Bogor Palace last week.

Not only that, Prabowo also received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Ministry of Defense office in Jakarta and received an honorary visit from Malaysian Defense Minister Yang Mulia Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Before receiving a courtesy visit from the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty at the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday (8/5/2024), Prabowo also received Apple CEO Tim Cook and his entourage. Guests who were previously received or will be received by President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace.

The President has included Pak Prabowo in meetings even though they are not discussing defense issues. It makes the transition easier.

President Joko Widodo received a visit from the French Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (10/2/2022). During the meeting, President Jokowi was accompanied by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

That's the transition of government from President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to their successors, Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, until October 20th when they will be inaugurated as the President and Vice President of Indonesia at the MPR/DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta.

President Joko Widodo led the Sunset Parade and lowering of the red and white flag ceremony at the Bela Negara field of the Ministry of Defense in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/10/2022). Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto accompanied President Jokowi during the ceremony which was part of the 77th anniversary of the Indonesian National Army.

Even though they are already candidates for president and vice president, there are no provisions for the presidential and vice presidential candidates to resign. Because of this, Prabowo and Gibran continue to serve as Minister of Defense and Mayor of Solo, Central Java.

"Because of the continuation of the Jokowi government, with Mr. Prabowo not stepping back, it shows that the transition is taking place as it is, besides making the government transition easier. This means that Mr. Prabowo can follow and help the programs and work that President Jokowi must solve, especially in defense duties," the official added.

Minister of State Secretary Pratikno confirmed this when confirmed by Kompas last Wednesday at his office. "Yes, the President has included Mr Prabowo in his meetings even though he did not discuss defense matters. "It makes the transition easier," he said.

Due to the continuity of President Jokowi's government and with Mr. Prabowo not stepping back, it shows that the transition is running as is, in addition to making the government transition itself easier.
