New Facts about Finding Anita's Body in a Cupboard in Cirebon

Police revealed that there were wounds on Anita's body, and her cell phone was not found.

Police are on guard at one of the boarding houses in Kedawung District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, Thursday (9/5/2024), the location where the body of a woman suspected of being a murder victim was found.

CIREBON, KOMPAS — Police revealed new facts about the discovery of a woman's body in a cupboard at a boarding house in Kedawung District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, Thursday (9/5/2024). Police said there were injuries on the body and the victim's valuables were missing.

The victim identified as Anita (21) was first found by her friend in a closet in one of the boarding house rooms in RT 002 RW 002 Blok Pulomas, Kedawung Village, on Thursday at around 2:30 PM. The location is only about 180 meters away from the Kedawung Police Station.

"Based on witness statements, it was found that the victim was curled up in the cupboard, in the boarding house. "But, when we arrived, his position was already on the floor," said Head of the Cirebon City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Commissioner Anggi Eko Prasetyo, Friday (10/5/2024).

The police carried out a crime scene investigation (TKP) from Thursday afternoon until 22.00. From this activity, they found the victim's face covered in blood. "From which we can draw the conclusion that this incident is an indication of a suspected criminal act (murder)," said Anggi.

At this boarding house, the police found the body of a woman suspected of being a murder victim.

In addition, from witness examinations, a number of the victim's valuable items, such as mobile phones, were not found at the crime scene. The authorities suspect that the items were taken by the perpetrator who was with the victim at the time. So far, the police have examined two witnesses who are the victim's colleagues.

The police will ask for information from the owner of the boarding house and confiscate the surveillance camera (CCTV) footage there. From Kompas's observations, there is CCTV in front of the victim's room. There are two ways to get to the unguarded room.

Officers have placed a police line in front of the victim's room door. They have also taken the victim's body to Bhayangkara Hospital in Losarang, Indramayu Regency, West Java for an autopsy. This handling is necessary to determine the cause of the victim's death.

Regarding the identity of the alleged perpetrator of the murder, Anggi is still collecting data from the crime scene. "So, we don't know because testimony is limited to those who found (the victim). Hopefully, from the results of the autopsy, we will find clues," he said.

Anik Cahya (18), a friend of the victim, said that the victim came from Dadap Village, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu. Anita had only been living at the boarding house for about a month. Anik's older sibling was the first person to find the victim's body and became a witness in the case.

"(The) victim's body was found in the cupboard," he said. "The information was that the victim's cell phone was lost," he said.

This is not the only case of murder in Cirebon. On Sunday (5/5/2024) evening, residents in the Tegalgubug area, Cirebon Regency, were shocked by the discovery of a woman's body in the river with her hands tied. The body is strongly suspected to be a murder victim.

On Wednesday (10/1/2024), a woman's body wrapped in a sheet was also found in a river in Susukan District, Cirebon. As a result of police investigations, the victim with the initials OP (22) was the victim of murder by her husband, MM (20).
