JAKARTA, KOMPAS - It is undeniable that many people are worried because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, space is becoming increasingly limited to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. There are a number of online platforms that can be used to reduce that anxiety.
The government has imposed social restrictions, by among others asking people to work and stay at home to help prevent the spread the coronavirus. Andris ,31, a digital strategist who live in Menteng Dalam, South Jakarta, is among those who work from home. He also spends his time at home by accessing an online meditation platform.
"In a difficult time like this, coupled with the self-quarantine, people not only feel uneasy but also anxious," said Andris, Tuesday (3/31/2020).
From the conversation simulation, we can know what we should be proud of.
To reduce anxiety, he accesses several meditation platforms. One of them is Meditation Game, a game that is played by collecting balls using light characters. While collecting the balls, there are instructions to regulate breathing. The application also features peaceful and relaxing background music. While playing this game, Andris is entertained and feels more relaxed. For the time being, he can take his mind off the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also accesses another platform called Senseful, an online platform that features meditation services, ranging from introduction to instructions on how to meditate. Everything is simply packaged so that it\'s easy for beginners to understand.
Next, there is also an application called Wysa, an app that enables you to talk with a chatbot about everything such as self-confidence, relationships or depression, work stress and energy savings. According to him, Wysa really helps him a lot reduce his anxiety. "From the conversation simulation, we can know what we should be proud of," he said.
Andris then shared his tips on reducing anxiety through Twitter. The tweet on March 30 received a positive response with 2,020 retweets.
Many people then shared similar online services that can be accessed while working from home. One of them, is Emss, who calms the mind with the Tide platform.
This application can make sounds, such as a gust of wind, water ripples, and small animals that help create a calm atmosphere, so that users will be more focused on doing something. Emss accesses it while working on task or when being upset.
The “Menjadi Manusia” account considers such an application is quite useful. In addition, online guessing games can also become an option to fill your time at home. This game also adds insight because it challenges users to think.
Riddles
One of those games is Kahoot !, an online based learning platform in English with a variety of games centering on word correction, history and international culture.
Asri Battileo ,26, an elementary school teacher in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, accesses Kahoot! to calm his mind while at the same time having fun with friends from their own homes. "I get bored being at home for days. This game is a good choice because it is fun. We have to find the correct answers for the questions being asked, "said Asri.
Kahoot! App enables Asri to play with friends from different cities or even countries. Through group conversations, they can set the time to play. The link will be sent according to the agreed time.
The link connects them to one type of game that consists of dozens of questions. Everyone gets a score for the right and fastest answer. Both are accumulated to determine the winner of guesses.
Anxiety is common. However, there are various ways to reduce it. Meditation and online games are just some of them.
