Although it’s in the form of packaged meal, this food is able to help residents and stall owners amid the pandemic. Residents\' stomachs are full and so are the stalls owner\'s wallet.
Suparti, 54, worked hard to complete the 250 meal packages of Rantang Hati, on Friday morning (10/7/2020). Her customer has been waiting for the meal packages and the side dishes. The meal packages will be distributed to residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in a number of neighborhood units (RT) throughout Jakarta.
The owner of the warteg (homemade food stall) in Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, was helped by her nephew and neighbor in cooking rice and wrapping the foods. "I share this [business] order with them in this difficult time," Suparti said.
The pandemic has caused business to slow. Normally, more than 100 people visit her food stall to enjoy meals. But, now there were only dozens of people.
The good news finally came when Wahyoo, a traditional food stall network start-up, listed her food stall as one of 100 food stall partners providing Rantang Hati.
The distribution of the food aid took place on 1-10 July, involving 10 food stalls per day.
Rantang Hati is no other but the name of the initiative to provide food aid for people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Jakarta, in collaboration with the JNE delivery service company. The distribution of the food aid took place on 1-10 July, involving 10 food stalls per day.
Rantang Hati initiative also helped the owner of another food stall, Suti-was, 44, in the form of food orders on Thursday (9/7). The owner of the food stall in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, completed the food order with his two children.
He was grateful that the food order came when the number of customers had not returned to normal. Since large-scale social restrictions have been imposed, the number of people coming to his food stall has dropped dramatically. Usually, he sees more than 150 guests. But now the number of customers is only half of the usual. "Alhamdulillah [Praise be to God], there were food orders and revenue increased," said Sutiwas.
Rantang Hati also increased the revenue of a food stall owned by Sumarsih, 48. The owner of the warteg in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, received the food orders for Rantang Hati on Monday (6/7). "It’s a great help. If there is no food order, [I get no revenue and] I cannot shop," said Sumarsih.
Before the pandemic, in one day, the warteg could earn Rp 2.5 million. However, now earnings have plummeted to Rp 600,000.
Empowerment mission
The Covid-19 pandemic hit various business sectors, including food stalls. Some food stalls have had to close because the number of customers continues to fall. Many Wahyoo partners have also experience it.
Rantang Hati is not merely a social assistance program. Rantang Hati appears to empower food stall partners so that their business can continue amid the pandemic.
According to Wahyoo\'s founder, Peter Shearer, the incomes of 50 percent of its business partners had been affected by the epidemic. One of the reasons is that the food stalls are located around the office area, so the number of customers had dramatically fallen, affected by the work from home policy. Wahyoo then initiated the Rantang Hati movement to ease the burden of Covid-19-affected people while also helping the food stalls to keep running.
JNE collaborated with Wahyoo in the Rantang Hati program as a form of its corporate social responsibility. The crisis has become a good time for sharing, among others, by helping the food stalls which are the mainstay of the owner as well as providing people with foods. "Now is the time to start moving," said JNE vice-president for marketing Eri Palgunadi.
The way to do this is by providing foods for people and app-based ojek drivers who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In April, Wahyoo raised funds for food stalls to keep them open. The way to do this is by providing foods for people and app-based ojek drivers who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
With fund-raising through the Kitabisa.com platform, it managed to collect Rp 350 million. The funds were given to each food stall to provide meals for 50-100 people for free for 14 days. Now, more and more parties are involved, including the #DiRumahAja music concert committee initiated by Najwa Shihab, who helped Rp 450 million. The funds were used to feed 800 families for 14 consecutive days.
Healthy Warung
Wahyoo also helps partners to implement health protocols in their food stalls. One example was the Warteg Ellya belonging to Sutiwas in South Jakarta.
On the dining table close to the display of various dishes, a booth or partition is installed between customers. As a result, visitors do not have any problems when eating because one long bench is allocated for four people only.
On the wall of the food stall, posted is information about the health protocols and the obligation to wear a face mask. Visitors are asked to wash their hands with soap when entering and leaving the stall. It is recommended that customers order their food through the online application and the payment is made in e-payment or if the customers pay with cash, they have to prepare the exact amount and put the money in the available cash box.
The food stall waiters also wear face masks and face shields while serving customers. Food hygiene and cleanness are Wahyoo\'s partner priorities. "The gg has become more comfortable because it is not too crowded for customers to enjoy their meal," said Sutiwas.
Cleanliness is the prerequisite for health. That\'s what has been planted in the minds of Wahyoo business partners, especially since the number of Covid-19 positive cases is still growing.
Rantang Hati manifests itself as a movement of citizens, by citizens and for citizens. This movement teaches that to strengthen others, residents do not need to wait for help. Joint collaboration can help many parties, one of which is realized through the meal packages from Rantang Hati.
