JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The Gerindra Party and Democratic Party will present a number of concepts and programs for the consideration of the Joko “Jokowi” Widodo-Ma\'ruf Amin government in the 2019-2024 term. The Jokowi-Amin government’s response to these concepts and programs will be a consideration of the two parties in deciding whether or not to the government coalition.
In this regard, secretary-general of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Hasto Kristiyanto said in Jakarta on Friday (19/7/2019) that the mission and vision of the elected president was formulated together with political parties in the ruling coalition.
Gerindra Party deputy chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the concepts and programs his party had offered to the Jokowi-Amin government focused on the fields of food self-reliance and energy security. The concepts are generally handled by the Agriculture Ministry, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Trade Ministry and the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry.
"Being inside [the government] it is not directly about the distribution of seats, but we exchange concepts first. If our concepts are accepted, it will only be discovered how many people are needed to execute them," Dasco said after the meeting of the Gerindra Party’s board of supervisors at Prabowo\'s residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday. The meeting, chaired by Prabowo, as the general chairman and chair of the board of trustees of the Gerindra Party, discussed a number of things, including the party\'s political direction for the next five years.
After the meeting, Gerindra secretary-general Ahmad Muzani said there was no stance on the part of Prabowo regarding the political direction of Gerindra after the 2019 election.
Separately, deputy secretary-general of the Democratic Party Didi Irawadi Syamsuddin said his party would also propose 14 of the priority programs it campaigned on in the last election to the Jokowi-Amin government. "Whoever is with us, both within the government and outside, these 14 programs must be able to intersect with those who are ready with us," he said.
Unconditional
Hasto Kristiyanto added that in exploring possible cooperation among political parties there was no need to discuss certain requirements. "Cooperation must also focused on development and national interests," he said.
Political observer from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Adi Prayitno said that those who lost the election should not demand much from the winning parties, adding that proposing ideas that were not in accordance with the government\'s vision and mission could hamper the government\'s performance.
Adi believed that there were other things being fought for, such as positions in certain ministries.
"The concepts or ideas being proposed are actually just the front of the stage. In politics, the public can certainly judge what is happening backstage," he said. (AGE/ DVD/ MTK)
