The pinnacle of procedural democracy was passed through on Sunday, 20 October, 2019. Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Ma\'ruf Amin are officially president and vice president.
The inauguration took place under tight security around the legislative building. We are grateful that the inauguration went smoothly and safely. We thank the National Police and the Indonesian Military (TNI) for securing the inauguration process.
In contrast to the inauguration of Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla on 20 October 2014, which was held as a people\'s party, the start of President Jokowi\'s second period was made simple. As Jokowi himself said, the second period of his administration will immediately focus on working and working.
The President delivered a relatively brief speech, around 16 minutes long. Jokowi\'s written speech focused on the economic development plan he was going to carry out. Witnessed by a number of heads of state and heads of government, in fact many parties wanted to hear President Jokowi speak about macro issues, about the vision of Indonesia in the future, about the role of Indonesia in the effort to realize global world peace after Indonesia becomes a member of the Human Rights Council and nonpermanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
However, the public must be patient to hear the President\'s vision for a number of things, such as legal development, eradicating corruption, democratic development, human rights development and his vision for national reconciliation. The vision and imagination of a nation\'s development are important to provide direction and suggestions to where this nation will be taken.
The public hopes that after the drama regarding the introduction of the ministerial candidates to the public on Monday, the President can deliver a kind of national speech for this nation. A speech that contains the rationality of the Cabinet he is working on. A number of figures have been summoned to the Palace, including Prabowo Subianto, Jokowi\'s rival in the presidential election. The public interpreted that those who were summoned would be projected as candidates for ministers.
The history of contemporary politics teaches the nation that the formation of the Cabinet will be dynamic. There is always a “dark room” for negotiation. The front stage of politics is always different from the back stage. However, the important thing is that all democracy must be maintained. Power requires supervision.
The new Cabinet will only be fixed after the President announces and inaugurates it. Regardless of the drama surrounding the introduction of the candidates for ministers, the public should be convinced that Jokowi’s Cabinet in his second term, Kabinet Kerja II, must provide optimism for this nation. The Cabinet will be instrumental in the rise of Indonesia, not just for power sharing. However, it all depends on the narrative to be delivered by the President. What is his reasoning in forming Kabinet Kerja II? That would be the bet.
