Research evidence showing the threats of the impacts of air pollution is also abundant. However, this has not yet been able to effectively drive efforts in controlling air pollution. As a result, residents are increasingly suffering from the burden of air pollution. JAKARTA, KOMPAS  —  Companies are looking for workers who are skilled in cybersecurity along with the development of the digital economy. Currently the supply of skilled workers in this field is still very low compared to demand. This means that job opportunities in the cybersecurity field will be even greater and more promising.

Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi touched on this gap during the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding on the Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, Thursday (18/4/2024) , in Jakarta. He was present to witness the signing.

Citing one of the global research, Budi mentioned that the gap between the supply and demand for skilled cyber security professionals in 2023 is estimated to be around 4 million people. This number has increased by 12 percent compared to 2022.

Budi stated that there are at least five specific types of cybersecurity skills that are most needed in the industry today. These five are security application development, cloud computing system security, risk assessment management and analysis, access and identity management, as well as cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance.

The risk of cyber attacks, Budi continued, always arises every day. Global trends show that every day there are approximately 2,200 attacks or 1 attack every 39 seconds. The majority are due to malware attacks (ransomware).

In Indonesia, the number of cyber attacks is estimated to reach 1.03 billion attacks in 2023. Types of attacks include credential theft, ransomware, social engineering and phishing to obtain personal data (phishing). ).

In addition to the sufficiency of skilled human resources, Budi emphasized that the industry also needs an optimal cyber security governance in order to mitigate risks and reduce cyber attack threats.

Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach, who was also present at the ceremony, said that society wants quality digital economic services, including payment matters. One manifestation of quality service is that it can be relied upon and trustworthy.

"The digital economy enables industry players of various business scales, including SMEs, to connect with the global market. To realize quality services, the critical point lies in skilled human resources," he said.

President Director and CEO Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Vikram Sinha said, the Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity Center of Excellence initiative is the company's manifestation of advancing cyber security resources in Indonesia. This initiative also involves the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity Center of Excellence will be located at ITB.

Several programs will be implemented at the Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. One of them is cybersecurity skills training that is open to professionals outside of ITB.

To support Indonesia's dream of becoming a developed country by 2045, Sinha continued, ensuring internet infrastructure reaches remote areas must be done. The next step is to maintain sustainable service quality, coupled with cyber security.
